Community Wells
In the rural tribal regions of the Tansa Valley, access to clean and nearby water sources remains a daily struggle, especially for women. On average, women walk up to ten kilometers each day to fetch water for their families. To ease this burden and ensure reliable access to clean water, PRASAD Chikitsa has constructed and revitalized community wells—rain-fed water sources that support essential daily needs like drinking, cooking, cleaning, and sanitation.

Despite seasonal rainfall, many remote villages lack year-round access to clean water. Existing wells are often dry, damaged, or poorly maintained. As a result, women and children spend significant time and effort collecting water from distant or contaminated sources, impacting health, education, and livelihoods.
How We Are Solving It
PRASAD Chikitsa addresses this critical need by:
Building New Wells: Constructing rain-fed community wells in water-scarce villages to collect and store monsoon water
Well Revitalization: Repairing, cleaning, and deepening existing wells to improve water capacity and usability
Strategic Placement: Installing wells closer to homes to reduce travel time and physical strain on women and children
Water Accessibility and Safety: Ensuring the water is accessible year-round and safe for consumption through periodic testing and maintenance
Significant reduction in the time and walking distance for water collection
Impact
Improved access to safe, local water for household needs
Enhanced quality of life for families and communities
Increased time for education, work, and rest
