Eye Care

PRASAD Chikitsa launched its Eye Care Program in 1990 with free eye camps offering cataract surgeries and lens implants to underserved tribal communities. In 2003, it established the Gurudev Siddha Peeth Netra Chikitsa Hospital (GSPNH), a fully equipped center with a 12-bed ward and advanced surgical facilities. Today, the program provides comprehensive ophthalmic care through outreach camps, school screenings, and specialized surgeries—restoring vision and independence for thousands.

In the remote villages of the Tansa Valley, preventable and curable blindness—especially due to cataracts—was a silent crisis. Poverty, lack of awareness, and limited access to healthcare forced many to live with deteriorating vision. For elders, this meant losing mobility and independence; for children, uncorrected vision problems disrupted learning and development.

PRASAD Chikitsa takes a comprehensive, community-centered approach to combat curable blindness and vision issues:

  • Free Eye Camps (1990–2001)

    • Treated over 40,000 villagers

    • Performed 4,000+ free cataract surgeries

    • Distributed 17,500+ prescription glasses

  • Permanent Eye Care Facilities

    • Netraprakash Eye Clinic in 2000 and Gurudev Siddha Peeth Netraprakash Hospital (GSPNH) in 2003 established for ongoing, high-quality services

    • GSPNH offers inpatient care, outpatient diagnostics, and surgical treatment

  • Screening and Outreach Services

    • House-to-house cataract screening in remote villages

    • Weekly eye camps in underserved areas

    • School screenings to detect refractive errors, Vitamin A deficiency, and other eye conditions in children

  • Advanced Surgical Care

    • Cataract surgeries using phacoemulsification with foldable lenses, manual small incision cataract surgery (SICS), and ECCE

    • Additional procedures include Pterygium excision, DCT, and YAG laser treatment

  • Modern Facilities and Equipment

    • 12-bed inpatient ward for recovery

    • Modular Operation Theatre with HEPA filters (upgraded in 2023)

    • Equipped with Oertli Phaco system, Leica operating microscope, and Class B Flash Autoclave

    • OPD tools include Autorefractometer, Slit Lamp, A-Scan, Non-contact Tonometer, and YAG Laser
