Farm Irrigation Wells
In the remote tribal areas of the Tansa Valley, access to water for farming is often limited to the monsoon season, making year-round agriculture difficult. To support small and marginal farmers, PRASAD Chikitsa developed a unique rainwater harvesting solution—concrete wells built directly on farmland to store rainwater for use during dry months.

Agriculture in these regions is highly dependent on seasonal rains. During the dry months, crops often fail due to water scarcity, leading to low yields, food insecurity, and economic instability for farming families. Conventional irrigation methods are often either unavailable or unsustainable.
How We Are Solving It
PRASAD Chikitsa's farm irrigation initiative includes:
Construction of Concrete Wells: Built on individual farms to harvest and store rainwater during monsoon
Year-Round Irrigation: Enables farmers to irrigate their crops even during non-monsoon periods
Sustainable Design: Wells are engineered to capture and manage excess runoff, reducing water waste and preventing soil erosion
Improved Crop Cycles: Reliable irrigation promotes multi-season farming and increased agricultural productivity
Impact
Increased water availability for irrigation throughout the year
Reduced crop failure due to drought or inconsistent rainfall
Improved income stability and food security for farming families
Enhanced water management practices promote sustainable, climate-resilient agriculture
