When a Woman Thrives, a Village Thrives.
In many rural communities, women are the silent backbone of the household — managing the home, raising children, working on the farm — often without recognition or financial independence.
Through PRASAD Chikitsa’s Self-Help Group (SHG) program, women are stepping into new roles as entrepreneurs, community leaders, and decision-makers.
Take Meena’s story. A mother of three, Meena joined her village’s SHG to access small loans and learn basic business skills. With support from PRASAD, she started a home-based incense stick business, selling to local markets.
Her income now covers school fees, improves her family’s nutrition, and gives her a voice in household decisions. Other women have followed her example, starting microenterprises ranging from tailoring to poultry farming.
These changes go beyond economics. When women have income and confidence, they invest in their children’s education, community wellbeing, and environmental sustainability.
In our experience, empowering one woman often changes the trajectory of an entire village.
