Muktananda Mobile Hospital
Launched in 1978, the Muktananda Mobile Hospital (MMH) was PRASAD Chikitsa’s first major health initiative in the Tansa Valley. Designed as a clinic-on-wheels, the MMH delivers essential medical care directly to rural and tribal communities, eliminating the barriers of distance and limited access to health services. This pioneering program continues to bring medical care and health education to the doorsteps of people in remote villages.

The remote geography and economic challenges of the Tansa Valley have long left thousands—especially within Adivasi communities—without reliable access to medical care. With few nearby clinics and limited transportation options, many residents depended on traditional remedies or simply endured illnesses without treatment.
The Muktananda Mobile Hospital bridges this gap by bringing essential healthcare directly to rural and tribal villages. By delivering services on-site, it removes critical barriers of distance, affordability, and accessibility—ensuring even the most remote communities receive the care they need.
The Muktananda Mobile Hospital travels to rural villages, offering services that include:
-

Preventive and Curative Care
Villagers receive treatment for both acute and chronic illnesses, including infectious diseases, diabetes, hypertension, and skin conditions. The mobile hospital also provides routine checkups and immediate care for common ailments, reducing the risk of complications through early intervention.
-

Health Education and Awareness
Each visit includes community education on critical health topics such as hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, and chronic illness management. These sessions empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health.
-

Medication Distribution and Follow-Up
Patients diagnosed with medical conditions receive the appropriate medications on-site, and follow-up visits ensure continuity of care. This consistent engagement helps patients stay on track with treatment and reduces the likelihood of relapse or worsening health.
-

Early Screening and Referrals
The mobile hospital conducts regular health screenings to identify conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or early signs of disease. When advanced care is needed, patients are referred to the Anukampa Health Center (AHC) or other specialized medical facilities, ensuring they get the right treatment at the right time.
Impact
Over the decades, the Muktananda Mobile Hospital has become a trusted symbol of healthcare in the Tansa Valley. It has not only brought essential medical services to underserved populations but has also helped shift community reliance from home remedies to modern medicine, leading to improved long-term health outcomes and better quality of life.
